Over the past 30 years, Lucinda Williams has been developing her perspective into  a whole series of great albums, each of which individual rock, country, folk and blues so closely interwoven that the individual elements seem to disappear. "Lucinda Williams" of 1988 marked her breakthrough, but her absolute Masterpiece of 1998 - "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road" - cemented its dazzling reputation as a great Singer / songwriter.

It took three years to create the Alternative Country Masterpiece, but it was worth it. Williams writes songs that capture the rootlessness of American life with vivid images and angular beauty. As Guests with them: Steve Earl, Emmylou Harris and Buddy Miller. Williams herself went into action as co-producer; for rick Rubin and Jim Scott are responsible for the mix - "Metal Firecracker" was mixed by Ray Kennedy. The Album won a Grammy as "Best Contemporary Folk Album" and was the first release of Lucinda Williams, who was honoured with the gold status.

The Village Voice named "Car Wheels..." best album of the year, while in 2003 in the list of the "500 best albums" of Rolling Stone it Number 304 boarded. For the first time as re-issue on vinyl to have!
